Kitten Wellness

Congratulations on your new kitten!

Each kitten has different risks of exposure to contagious diseases. Only your veterinarian can make specific recommendations needed to keep your kitten healthy and happy. Your new kitten will need three initial visits to start their preventative health care plan as outlined below.

Fecal test for intestinal parasites

2nd Kitten Visit

(9-11 weeks old)
Physical Exam
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia Vaccine)
FeLV (Feline Leukemia Vaccine)
Deworming
Fecal test for intestinal parasites

3rd Kitten Visit

(12-14 weeks old)
Physical Exam
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia Vaccine)
Rabies Vaccine (1 Year)
Deworming
Spaying (female) or neutering (male) at six months of age.
Before you bring your kitten in for their first appointment, you may view and print the kitten wellness chart and bring it in with you at the time of your visit.

Kitten Food

By 5-8 weeks of age, kittens should be able to chew their own kitten food. Their diet should be protein-rich and energy-filled. Feedings should occur 3-4 times a day.

There are many types of kitten food available and a member of our staff can talk with you about the proper nutrition needed for your kitten. After 6 months of age, kittens should be decreased to 2 feedings a day.

Kitten food is usually very high in protein, calories, and fats, which are necessary to support healthy growth and body function. Feeding the correct food, in the correct amount, at the right time throughout the day is essential for happy, growing cats.
