Emergency Tips

An emergency involving your furry friend is probably one of your worst nightmares — and something you would rather not think about.

But as a responsible animal owner, it’s up to you to know where to turn for the help your pet needs in an emergency.
We enlist you some tips that can help you in an emergency.

Emergency tips:

Keep yourself safe from biting or scratching pets. Injured pets may bite or scratch their caregivers when in pain. Use caution. Cover the pet’s head with a thick blanket or towel or use a makeshift muzzle to keep the pet from biting.

Do not bathe an injured pet prior to the emergency visit. Bathing may lower the body temperature or cause further injury to the pet.

Blankets can be used as slings or gurneys to safely move injured pets into vehicles for transportation or from the outside into the home or other shelter. Open the blanket, gently set the pet in the middle, and pick up the 4 corners to move the injured pet.

This information is a guideline for emergency situations. It is not intended to diagnose or treat sick or injured pets. This list may not include every emergency that pets encounter. If your pet’s symptoms or situation are not listed, please call a veterinary professional office for assistance.
